THE RIDE OF THEIR LIVES
This is one of the most candid documentaries that NASCAR has ever had a hand in producing. It’s not exactly a tell-all, but it’s refreshingly honest in its portrayal of some of the tragedies the sport has experienced. What’s more, the deleted scenes are every bit as good as those that did make the cut.

BACK IN THE DAY WITH DALE JR,:SEASON 1
Dale Earnhardt Jr. hosts this superb series, which is comprised of pioneer motorsports journalist Bud Lindeman’s old Car & Track highlights show along with numerous pop-ups facts. Lindeman’s was a decidedly “old school” show, complete with corny one-liners and sound effects.

STROKER ACE
The greatest racing movie ever made, hands down. Yes, it’s silly. Yet in silliness, sometimes, there is what could be considered biting satire. Featured are appearances by several drivers, including Dale Earnhardt, Kyle Petty, Ricky Rudd and Harry Gant, as well as some fairly decent racing footage from the early 1980s. |

DALE: THE MOVIE
The documentary movie itself is great, but it’s the special features that carry this release. Included are deleted scenes, full-length broadcasts of Earnhardt’s 1998 Daytona 500 win and his final win at Talladega in 2000 and edited events — the ones that got away. |

DALE JR - SHIFTING GEARS
This doesn’t exactly qualify as ancient history, not yet, anyway. It is, however, an interesting look into the life and times of NASCAR’s most popular current driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. |

DALE EARNHARDT 10 GREATEST WINS BY TEAM MARKETING
A decent product, but it would’ve been much better had the full-length races been included rather than these edited portions. The editing is also choppy. Overall, it’s a good selection of the biggest events in Earnhardt’s storied career, from “The Pass in the Grass” to the 1998 Daytona 500, the Brickyard and the final win of his career, at Talladega. |
