SUITCASE JAKE
It would be difficult, if not downright impossible, to list the teams and drivers for which Jake Elder once worked.
He started out with Richard Petty, won championships with David Pearson, worked with Darrell Waltrip and directed Dale Earnhardt to his first Winston Cup victory. And that's just for starters. He's shown here with Earnhardt.
He picked up the nickname "Suitcase Jake" because of his many moves around the garage, and it stuck. Elder had been in declining health for several years, before passing away Feb. 24, 2010. He will be missed.
