THE DON HUNTER COLLECTION
SALT FLATS
Bobby Isaac takes to world-famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah during a series of runs in mid-September 1971. During the sessions, Isaac set a number of world-record speed records in the No. 71 Dodge Charger Daytona owned by Nord Krauskopf and prepared by legendary mechanic Harry Hyde.
The runs took place between Sept. 13-16. Isaac, the defending Grand National champion, had sat on the pole at both Talladega races in 1970. The gorgeous car had also been driven by Isaac at Talladega to a closed-course lap record of 201.104 mph on Nov. 24, 1970.
