PETE HAMILTON
Driving a Petty Enterprises Plymouth Superbird, Pete Hamilton competed in just 16 of the season’s 48 races in 1970. He won three of them — the Daytona 500 and both of Talladega’s events.
A native of Newton, Mass., an old neck injury suffered years before forced Hamilton’s retirement after running just two races early in the 1973 season. He would go on to become a successful car builder.
